Line Art, though often in simple
black and white or in the case
of cave art around the globe,
black and stone, is always
even more interesting and to
many enhanced by the addition
of color. Many examples of
early art left behind by our
predecessors are but simple
monochromatic displays of the
lives that were lead, the
influences on them. But as
time went on and as we
learned to use various natural
pigments, additional
expression
was added to our displays of
art. Color was key!
This is evident not only in
the painting in caves and rock
dwelings but in the earlier
pyramids in many parts of the
globe. Black and white, or
black and stone, or etching and
stone are the building blocks of
earlier communications.
However, as soon as
pigmented color is available it
is used.
While balck and white,
pencil and paper, pen and ink
are still the basis for many of
our most elegant works and
most of our most explanitory,
it is color and the use of color
that enhances and liberates art
to many.
Here Jackie offers you
some of his more interesting
displays of Line Art with Color.
